LUMS welcomed the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Pakistan, Mr. Robert-Jan Siegert, for a discussion on strengthening academic collaboration and exploring opportunities for partnership between LUMS and Dutch institutions. The Ambassador was accompanied by Ms. Hina Idrees, Senior Policy Officer at the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and Ms. Asma Hamid, Advocate of the Supreme Court of Pakistan. Faculty members from the Suleman Dawood School of Business (SDSB) and the Syed Babar Ali School of Science and Engineering (SBASSE), along with Mr. Mohammad Ali Ibrahim, Director of Advancement, and Dr. Muhammad Adeel Zaffar, Dean of SDSB, attended the meeting.

The discussion began with an overview of LUMS presented by Dr. Tariq Jadoon, Provost, highlighting the University's academic programmes, research ecosystem, and recent institutional achievements. Ambassador Siegert expressed particular interest in LUMS’ global alumni network, the National Outreach Programme (NOP), and the University's mathematics outreach initiatives, including the LUMS Math Circles, recognising their contribution to expanding educational access and creating meaningful community impact.

Faculty members also shared perspectives on LUMS' commitment to academic excellence, the challenges of attracting top graduate students, and ongoing efforts to strengthen international engagement through collaborative graduate programmes and student exchange initiatives. The conversation further highlighted opportunities for collaboration with Dutch institutions in areas including agriculture, dairy, agri-business, psychology, executive education, and interdisciplinary research.

The visit concluded with a shared commitment to exploring future partnerships between LUMS and higher education institutions in the Netherlands. Ambassador Siegert appreciated the University's efforts in identifying areas of mutual interest and expressed optimism about expanding academic and research collaboration between the two countries.
